Education and Training: Key to Sustainable Development

As we progress as a nation the education and training that is available for the younger generation is the key to sustain development in the country. It is because the opening of new opportunities as we increase economic activities due to expansion of production possibility frontier of the country require people with quality education and training. Moreover, the younger generation will be replacing today’s responsible people in various posts in the country.

Therefore, it is vital to improve the quality of education that we require for the future of the country. Hence, we need to address students who are left behind in their grades, the dropout crisis at grade 10, improve on student achievements in English, Math and Science subjects.

In this line of thought we also need to guarantee quality pre-school, primary, and secondary and college education in the nation by producing, recruiting, retaining and rewarding quality teachers. Bring progressive changes to curriculums, infrastructure, human resources, technology that we use in the current system. In turn the Maldives system of education will be more reliable and competitive among the world league of nations.
